Here are a few tips for next time you have a ‘shoot,’ or when you trust Petrova with the honor of capturing your memories!
Wear complimentary vibrant colors for outdoor shoots. Think various shades of blues, greens, pinks, yellows and whites...all of which brighten your complexion and add energy to the shoot. Be yourself and do your style, and hair and makeup in a way that twenty years from now you will not be shaking your head wondering what trend were you trying to copy. Instead, just be YOU! BE- YOU- TIFUL!
Be creative- bring props! Recently, I did a shoot in our local gardens, and so we brought a picnic blanket to lay on, some flower stems for the children to ‘hand pick’ and give to one another, and also a special teddy or doll to add a special memory to our photos.
Always consider weather - on a warm very sunny day, our shooting time may be more difficult than an overcast day. I actually had a day with spots of rain, and it was a beautiful shoot! I could edit the lighting on the images a hair, in post processing, and noone was squinting, makeup was not running, and the kids were not dehydrating. However, I always suggest layers and Cute but comfy shoes.
Always be sure the kids ( preferably everyone) eat before the shoot, and bring snacks and water.
And most of all, be ready for fun! I have many families who have ideas for pictures but feel afraid to share them. Never feel that way! I always have plenty of posing ideas, but your creations ultimately are what my job is all about- capturing YOUR moments.
